Statement of the Director/s
The idea for this film came from a picture of a woman wearing a toilet paper rolls dress, taken from a street theatre project I have created which dealt with three lost women in search of a husband. The obsessive search stands out as a mission that will transform the lives of the three women and will make them part of "normal" society where women are already married.
The film WEDDING DOLL tells the story of a mother and her special needs daughter who live in a small desert town suburb.
Coping with physical and social isolation in the remote south of Israel makes the difficulties and the differences that the mother and the daughter deal with all the more obvious.
The daughter is obsessed with getting married and believes that it will finally make her life perfect.
In my personal life I know how hard and complicated is to be different. My younger brother suffered from post-traumatic disorder during his military service 12 yrs ago. The way my parents dealt with this reflects the challenge and the need for support, understanding and caring, when you live in a society that is not tolerant to wards someone like my brother or the young woman in the film.
I hope to shed light on our society today and force us to be attentive to those among us who are different.
