Statement of the Director/s
I was inspired to make "Dinola" because it is close to my heart. I wanted to re-enact the emotions that people like my grandmother actually lived through. I chose to use real people and not actors to bring out real emotions. This film is a fictional story that is based on true events and is shot similar to a documentary. The story portrays difficulties and old now dying customs of the village I am from. This exotic and original history of my region is a story which has never been revealed. This is first time that this history is shown to the eyes of the public. This film is based on the real life and experiences of my ancestors.. about my grandmother. The difficulties experienced by my grandmother shocked me and felt I compelled to share with the world.
Biography of the Director/s
Born in 1986, in Georgia, Mariam Khatchvani studied Film Directing at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film State University. She directed many short documentaries: Verdzoba (2006), Beyond the Window (2007), and Lichanishi and Kvirikoba (2009). Dinola (2013) is her first fiction short. It has been invited on many important film festivals: 36th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, 37th Norwegian Short Film Festival in Grimstad nomineed it to EFA ... DEDE will be her first feature film.
