Statement of the director:
THE LAST PEOPLE was filmed mostly with non-professional actors in the countryside of Lower Austria. The casting process took place shortly after the end of the pandemic, and in the rural regions of Austria I constantly came across people who complained that smaller or bigger things around them were no longer as they used to be. The feeling that something is coming to an end has become the subject of this film. It is about small worlds that are about to dissolve and a fear of change that gradually leads to resignation.
