SONG OF THE SEA tells the story of Ben and his little sister Saoirse – the last Seal-child – who embark on a fantastic
journey across a fading world of ancient legend and magic in an attempt to return to their home by the sea. The film takes inspiration from the mythological Selkies of Irish folklore, who live as seals in the sea but
become humans on land.

Biography of the Director/s
Tomm Moore was born in Newry, Northern Ireland, and studied animation at Ballyfermot College in Dublin. He co-founded the animation studio Cartoon Saloon and has written, produced, animated and directed short films and commercials. He directed the animated
feature The Secret of Kells, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated
Feature. Song of the Sea is his second feature, which was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and he has directed a short film portion of Kahlil Gibran’s the Prophet.
