3 stories, 3 characters in 3 time periods make up the story of “Brancusi from Eternity". Each character tells the tale about the talent, the personality and work of one of the world’s greatest artists, Constantin Brancusi.
The main story is about Brancusi's (Ioan Andrei Ionescu) mature period, both physically and creatively. It is the period following his arrival in Paris, during his friendship with Modigliani (Gabriel Vodnar) and his relationship with Martha (Iulia Verdes), one of his models, perhaps his favorite. Despite his numerous betrayals, Martha remains faithful to him, until her death.
The second story is about Marin Etu (Alexandru Potoceanu), a student of Fine Arts in Bucharest, during the establishment of the communist regime. Due to his criticism of some of the Romanian Academy members who refused the legacy Brancusi wanted to leave to Romanian state, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison. After being released, security (communist Securitate) forces him to forge many of the works of Brancusi.
The third story has at its center Milarepa (Claudiu Bleont), a great scholar who lived in the XII century in Tibet. Milarepa is often evoked by Brancusi who is a great admirer of him, and also by Marin Etu. During detention due to a cellmate, Marin Etu gets to know more about the life of Milarepa.
Milarepa is the link between the sculptor Brancusi and the forger Marin Etu, a link between their destinies.
"Brancusi from Eternity" is a film about the search for truth and perfection in art, but also about disappointments caused by failures. It is, however, a movie about Milarepa, who influences the lives of Brancusi and Marin Etu until the moment of their transition in solitude …

Statement of the Director/s
Mr.Petrescu, told me once that someone had to do a film about Brancusi. We started to work at this script together with Ioan Carmazan and later on with Pascal Ilie Virgil. The film is based on this last version. Unfortunately Mr.Petrescu is now in a better world…in the Eternity of Milarepa.
During shooting at “Eva”, Ioan Andrei Ionescu who had a role, show me a picture of him in which he was with beard. In that moment I knew he will be Brancusi in my future film. It was not the first time when I decided the cast together with Cornelia Palos, my producer. I told her, for Brancusi I think Andrei, with a longer beard, will be great and for Marin Etu I am thinking at Alexandru Potocean, a young but very talented actor with whom I worked before. She said, yes. And she proposed me Iulia Verdes as Martha and Andra Negulescu as Elaine. And I said yes! For Iulia it was her first important role in a long feature, after the independent “Elevator”. As for Milarepa… both of us were saying Claudiu Bleont a very strong actor, who is reading a lot regarding tibetans, and Tibet. And we started the journey into Brancusi world, Milarepa’s and Marin Etu’s one. I didn’t want to do an autobiographical film. An artistic film must have his part of fiction.
Some things are real… Paris, friendship with Modigliani, his fight to change, with no luck, Modi’s life, Martha (on her real name, Marthe Lebherz, daughter of an well known swiss doctor, who came in Paris to study dance), Elaine (on her real name Eileen Lane). Another true thing is the fact that some idiots refused his work, when Brancusi wanted to leave all his works to the country were he was born, the country he left for going to Paris and study sculpture and of course Milarepa. Milarepa was his idol. I don’t know if the froger from the future existed (Marin Etu). What we all know is that there are many copies of some of Brancusi sculptures… so, either Brancusi forged himself in order to achieve the perfection or someone existed during those times and was copying his sculptures. Mademoiselle Pogany (Madame Pogany) is in more than 10 versions…. I liked the idea that a froger existed.I thought that the music will be very important in this movie. Besides some originals theme composed by me and my partner Vladimir Cnejevici, I used Satie (Gymnopedie No. 1 and Grossiennes), Vivaldi and two songs from Maria Tanase… She was one of Brancusi lovers and a similar importance in Romania to that of Piaf in France.
